Fit Japanese 100 yen shop here in Houston!

So everything isn't 100 yen, actually most of the items are $2 or more. I spent about $28 there for bento stuff and a few other house hold items. Here's what I got!
edit: i lost my photobucket account! so no pics for now.
Three wiener cutters, sakura punch, animal picks, panda belts, little cup dividers, snoopy clothes pins (I love snoopy!!), clickety-click side car, onigiri ball molds, and a free bag of "mix candy". If you buy ten or more items then you get to play bingo which gives you a chance to win free items. yay for free candy! There wasn't really anything else on the wall that I wanted so the boy and I agreed on the candy.
I had a blue piece but I'm not sure what flavor it is. It has a picture of a martini glass on it. ?_?
The store was huge!! They had things there, I've been wanting for a while now (like the panda belts). I'm excited they opened up and can't wait to go back there. Maybe in another month or two. *sigh
here's a pic of all my boxes too. I recently got the four divided one too! I've been looking for that!

I need a better way to organize. :O(

Bento #5
It's not pretty but it was tasty.
edit: i lost my photobucket account! so no pics for now.
FIber one apple cinnamon muffin, grapefruit sections, brown rice onigiri, roasted chicken pieces, broccoli and cheese, and salmon furikaki in the green house.
Made this using leftovers in five minutes. (I was in a rush to get to class! Hence the blurry picture from the camera phone.)
I like my apples to be sweet!
The boy likes granny smiths which are totally tart! ):op bleh.

Had a tasty lunch from the freezer?
Apr. 30th, 2009 | 10:35 pm

anxious
I ate this today.

It was SUPER tasty. I love indian food, (food in general, I guess) but I hardly get to eat out, let alone at an Indian restaurant. I had this one in the freezer for a while after picking it up from HEB.
It was filling and satisfying for 320 calories, not bad at all. Could have been spicier, but I guess I could have added something to it. I think it was expensive to buy, like most of Amy's products. Maybe around $3.50, which is a lot IMO. EDIT they are about $2.88 at walmart I found out.
This has just influenced me to try to make these dishes on their own. Paneer matar should be cheap to make, except where do I buy the cheese? I can make it myself, but do I have that much patience to wait for yogurt to drain?
Another plus was the ingredient list was kept minimal, which is difficult to find in other brands.

bento 4
Apr. 23rd, 2009 | 11:43 pm
Did this last week:
edit: i lost my photobucket account! so no pics for now.
Top Tier: Strawberries, HEB corn fritters, tortilla, pepperoni, swiss cheese tulips
Bottom Tier: Sausage fried rice with sesame seeds.
This bento was too much food. I guess I could have gone with more fruit instead of the tulips but I really wanted to use a cutter for once. This was also a speed bento since I used leftovers. (10 minutes to reheat and pack.)

Ichiban Kan FINALLY has a thermal jar lunch set for $22. That's a lot better than j-list's $52 set. :O(
Now that they have it, I'm not sure I want to buy it. Shouldn't I just buy a thermal jar by itself since I already have containers and a bag? It would be more cost effective.
School is coming to an end this semester and I'm hoping I have more time for hobbies and fun.
If a restaurant charges extra for togo food then if you bring your own containers will they charge less?
**some restaurants charge an extra fee for packing reasons.

Earth Day is coming and all you have to do is comment about what you are doing to reduce your carbon foot print.
Some of the things I said are:
I use paperless billing.
I use eco friendly kitty litter, but I really should teach them to use the toilet.
I use lunch boxes instead of ziploc bags or disposible things.
I use reusable bags when grocery shopping.
I stopped buying bottles of water and instead use a filter on the tap.
Car pool whenever I can!
Try to do laundry all in one day since the drier uses less energy to dry clothes when it is already warmed.
Recycle paper and aluminum. Recently started collect plastic bottles too.
Bring coffee mug to exxon to get coffee instead of their paper cups. (and saves money)
Things I have considered doing:
using cloth napkins instead of paper towels.
stop buying take out food that creates waste. (really hard but that's what bento is for)
Did you know? If you bring your own cup to starbucks they will take 10% off your cost?
Anymore ideas?

Veg for 30 days!
Feb. 11th, 2009 | 10:01 am
mood:
curious
I pledged to be veg for 30 days and it's been 16 days since I started. It hasn't been hard, I guess b/c I will go back to eating meat when this is over. I'll probably eat it very rarely though.
The things I would miss most is fish (sushi) and chicken.
Beef and pork are okay and not really a big part of my diet anyways. There aren't a lot of things I can eat at work.
Vegetable fajitas, vegetable enchiladas, and white rice with black beans. The veggie ench are yummy!

bored
I was bored this afternoon and decided to make a bento box even if I wasn't going anywhere. I don't have much time during the week, so I get to play sometimes on the weekend!
This is only my third bento.
edit: i lost my photobucket account! so no pics for now.
Top Tier: bunny apples (first time making them, and I didn't bother to go read up on how to make it, hence, they are kinda funny looking!), frozen peas and carrots, and chicken fajitas with red bell peppers I made last night.
Bottom Tier: Jasmine rice, teriyaki nori stars, lion with low sodium soy sauce (for the quail eggs), 4 quail eggs.
not in the picture was a container with salmon furikake.
Even if I don't make bento boxes as much as I would like to, I still try to visit this community everyday. Everyone gives me tons of inspiration! Thanks guys!
Here it is again from a different angle.

a food blog?
Oct. 11th, 2008 | 11:06 pm
mood:
anxious
I've been reading a lot of food blogs lately. I like to see what people are eating. I think I want to try that but it would be hard to do with a camera that isn't really portable. maybe I'll have to wait.
Actually now would not be the time to make a food blog, I don't think I have the time everyday to post everything. Life is pretty busy with school, homework, observations, and work. (plus some volunteering coming up later this month and next)
It's getting pretty close to Halloween and Boobie's birthday. I'm still not sure if the party is gonna be a costume party. It would be pretty fun to dress up. I think we are going to give out candy this year too, well maybe. He's off and I am too. maybe I'll bring candy to work that morning instead.
